Claims of participation in Shifta War

[edit]

The claim that Amin participated in the Shifta war in the KAR in 1949 doesn’t seem right as the Shifta war began in 1963. The source cited only makes a vague reference to him being stationed in Somalia fighting “the Shifta animal raiders”. Seems like this should be revised 2601:81:8500:5F10:0:0:0:BACF (talk) 20:58, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed. Thank you for pointing this out. "Shifta" was a catch-all term for bandits and rebels in Somalia during this period, so whoever added "Shifta War" was probably not familiar with the terminology. Applodion (talk) 22:02, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

How was he captured or died?

[edit]

How was Idi Amin captured? 87.248.238.141 (talk) 20:08, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

He was never captured. He fled into exile, lived there for decades, and then died of natural causes. Applodion (talk) 21:10, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Age

[edit]

Amin’s date of birth is not exactly known. There should be a consensus. Alba91 (talk) 01:31, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please read the article. Many possible dates have been used by various sources, but the most reliable ones use 30 May 1928. Applodion (talk) 19:16, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
