Alnmouth railway station

[edit]

I particularly like your Alnmouth railway station article; I was thinking, as I waited for the late running 18:05 to London earlier this evening that it's about time the station had an article. And now not only have you grokked the format of railway station articles (something of a sad pet concern of mine), but you actually know interesting stuff about the station like previous names, purposes, dates &c, umm, so, I'm completely delighted. Well done; kudos to you. --Tagishsimon (talk)

Article about Wikipedia Users

[edit]

Hello,

I am a freelance writer working on an article about the wide array of people who make Wikipedia their life, their passion, their pastime. Wikipedia “addicts” if you will - as well as "recreational users". I’m looking for people just willing to tell their story of how they got sucked into the intellectual whirlwind that is Wikipedia, how you got started editing, how the obsession grew, and what you spend your time focusing on these days? Do you write articles from scratch? Is your main push toward one particular type of article? Do you patrol for typos and errors, or spend your time diligently fixing vandalism? Do you take part in the “social aspects” of Wikipedia; engaging in animated discussions or decorating your user page with all sorts of internet memes? Have you forced yourself to take a “Wikipedia break”? If so, what’s your 20/20 hindsight on the obsession? Basically I’m just trying to get an idea of what it’s like for various Wikipedia “addicts.” If you are interested in participating, please email me at brianrhodges@gmail.com

If anybody else, other than this user is interested in participating, feel free to email me as well. This article is intended to be a light informational piece, nothing too heavy or controversial, just merely introducing readers to a subculture that they likely had no idea existed. So please don’t email me with your conspiracy theories, or your grudge against the Wikipedia hierarchy… unless it directly applies to your overall experience with the site. This article is about the USERS, not about the pros and cons of the site itself.

Thanks,

What's this about AGF?[1] — coelacan talk21:39, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What I hope to achieve is the deletion of those articles I nominated. That's pretty obvious, isn't it? And yes, I think that if there aren't notable reliable sources on songs, they should be folded back into the article for the relevant album or band. That would consolidate information and stop people from splitting small articles that don't need to be split (most album articles), as doing so just makes the information harder to reach (more clicks away). And by the way, if you can't at least explain what "point" it is you think I'm making, it's rather incivil to go around making veiled accusations. — coelacan talk13:24, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can't see how my words to Rockstar could be seen as incivil in any way. I offered to assist in deletions of other songs and gave that user a genuine warning: someone who recently said "If their songs don't deserve Wikipedia entries, then neither do Jennifer Lopez', Hilary Duff's or any other ultra-popular American group" and then began nominating those performers' songs for deletion very likely would be accused of making a point. I thought that user should be apprised of this ahead of time. Anyway, see my response to you at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Who's Your Daddy? (song). — coelacan talk22:26, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Age category

[edit]

Hello! If you are receiving this message, that means that your user page is in a specific year category. Per a recent user-category per deletion, all specific year categories are to be deleted. If you wish to continue using year categories, you have two options:

If you wish, you may do both. Hopefully, this change in categorization will be quick and painless. Happy editing! --An automated message from MessedRobot 12:46, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Survey Invitation

[edit]

Hi there, I am a research student from the National University of Singapore and I wish to invite you to do an online survey about Wikipedia. To compensate you for your time, I am offering a reward of USD$10, either to you or as a donation to the Wikimedia Foundation. For more information, please go to the research home page. Thank you. --WikiInquirer 18:43, 9 March 2007 (UTC)talk to me[reply]

Check your facts please

You might want to double check your article about Helpful Henry - you said he's from The Beano, but he's in The Dandy Monster Comic 1939 (the first annual) so I think he must've been a Dandy character instead! Digifiend

The 'green' Metro Newspaper in Newcastle Metro (Associated Metro Limited)

[edit]

Howdy! I've just seen your post regarding the lost 'green' Metro newspaper that was distributed on the Tyne and Wear Metro back in 1999! I had made a change in the article before I read the discussion page (naughty me, I know...!) and saw your post... from 2005. But hey, better late than never I say! I'm glad someone else remembers the green 'Metro' and then when it changed to Morning News. I've added some info to the article, but without references, so I'm expecting that to be picked up on. But I'm glad someone else remembers it! I thought I was going crazy, thinking, did I just image green holding bins at Byker Metro station all those years ago when I was at school? :) I remember that the 'blue' Metro took over those green holding bins at Byker, very cheeky of them! Have you any more info your end? I can try and Google it, see what it finds... (but I'll do that in a few weeks as I'm actually meant to be writing my dissertation!!!!) Cheers matey! Proposed deletion of Outlet mall

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Outlet mall, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Fair use rationale for File:UKRegalRecord2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:UKRegalRecord2.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FASTILYsock(TALK) 03:24, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
