[edit]See discussion in Talk:Battle of Guam about problems with the image using the classic skin. I've added a floatright table to fix the problem, but please let me know if you object, or there is an approved format or something. -- ALoan (Talk) 11:20, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Island hopping
[edit]Island hopping did not bypass islands of no threat, with negligible forces. Rabaul was a strongpoint, but it was bypassed. It was also left as a sort of training ground for new pilots, to give them early battle experience. Other islands that were bypassed were a threat until Japanese shipping took losses from US submarines, at which point none of the bypassed islands were a threat, in a sense. - The section can be improved. The strategy seems actually to have involved concentrating "on strategically important islands that were not well defended". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.189.103.145 (talk) 15:12, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Map of the Battle of Tinian (1944).svg will be appearing as picture of the day on July 24, 2014. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2014-07-24. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. Thanks! — Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:31, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
Interred or interned?
[edit]This article uses the word interred when I suspect it should be interned. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.62.95.56 (talk) 09:05, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
