Aren't the terms "Buddha" and "Bodhisattva" getting confused in this article?Dustin Asby 08:31, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)

No, these beings are routinely described as Buddhas by those who believe in them. Whether the underlying theory is confused is another issue. I'm not sure anyone describes them as bodhisattvas. - Nat Krause 08:57, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Nat is right. An early Mahayana sutra talks about the Buddha Akshobhya, and the universe within which he turned the wheel of Dharma, along with a prayer for being reborn there. The five Dhyani Buddhas are most certainly Buddhas. However, the Five Wisdom Kings are often called Bodhisattvas, though many consider them to be Buddhas manifesting as Bodhisattvas. (Nat, I feel that maybe Wisdom King and Five Wisdom Kings should be merged.) (20040302 21:48, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC))
