Clarification
[edit]The Gauss-Krueger projection based on Krasovski's ellipsoid was used for WARPAC military maps. Those who later joined NATO (e.g. Hungary) were required to transition to UTM grid and the WGS-84 ellipsoid. Initially this was done by overprinting existing maps, but later on entirely new maps needed to be printed, because of different standard scales (1:50k and 1:250k) in NATO. 82.131.210.162 (talk) 17:59, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
