Tom Schnabel

[edit]

Oops. How did Tom end up in T rather than S (as in Alan Stivell)? Can someone help correct, thanks. Dragonfly213 (talk) 23:54, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Genres

[edit]

Can somebody explain why list of cultural and regional genres of music is not listed here? The article page claims it is part of this category but it isn't included on the category page. Tuf-Kat 19:05, May 30, 2004 (UTC)

Religious music

[edit]

Shouldn't religious music be promoted to being a child of Music rather than being in World Music? I certainly didn't find it when I was looking.

Don't know whether this category (and its subcategories) primarily categorizes pieces or other articles regarding World music.

Anyway: please visit category talk:musical compositions, and take part in the discussions there re. categorization systems for music.

World Music producers, others?

[edit]

Could I add Tom Schnabel to this category, a producer and scholar who truly helped forge the popularity of World Music for the United States? Could noted professors and such be added here? Dragonfly213 (talk) 04:14, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think the label "World Music' is extremely umhelpful at best (in that it provides no information about a musical style or genre) and verges on racist. Why are we even bothering with this? 124.168.47.108 (talk) 06:30, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the term exists and is used. So it should be covered in Wikipedia, flaws and all. Probably more as a term than an actual distinct genre. North8000 (talk) 18:06, 9 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
