Location of the medal? / cleanup

[edit]

I am currently cleaning up this page - According to the article "1964. The VC Medal was in the possession of T.G.Cochrane La Motte Farm.Parrl. P.O.Lamotte, Caope Provence, South Africa." - I have removed this as it needs a reference. I also removed a request to "please update if you know where his medal is publicly displayed" - if anybody knows please update the article! Andreww 6 July 2005 08:14 (UTC)

Copyvio

[edit]

Doesn't "with permission" imply copyvio? Either

  • GFDL has been executed by someone w/ authority to do so, or
  • it was already in PD, or
  • its inclusion is fair use, or
  • it doesn't meet WP's requirements (copyvio).

It sounds to me like copyvio, unless research clarifies something like the site mentioned being GFDL as we are. (Decent interval, before inserting copyvio tag, is under way.)

You may want to follow the 'migration' link to Wikipedia:WikiProject Victoria Cross Reference Migration and discuss this there - it does not look like a copyvio (or at least the possibility has been discussed, but you may want to discuss it again during your decent interval. In the meantime I have attempted to reword the note at the bottom of the page. i.e. I think the GFDL has been executed by someone w/ authority to do so Andreww 7 July 2005 07:58 (UTC)

Thank you; the interval is under suspension in view of what amts to yr reassurance that the issue is being looked at as a more global question than the one article. (Something i should have guessed from the existence of the wiki-project, and hopefully would eventually have done if there were no response!) [blush]I should still take a look, but if i don't, thanks for yr response & thanks to the project contr'ors as a group for the work done.

Biblio

[edit]

The

<Title> (<Author>, <Date>)

format used in at least one case invites confusion with the more typical (i think)

<Title> (<Publisher>, <Date>)

scheme that works so well in WP for Bibs of a single author. I think

<Author>, <Title> (<Publisher>, <Date>)

may be the accepted format.

I have looked up the books on COPAC and used templates for the info. I think this is now clean enough to remove from cleanup, so I have done so. Andreww 9 July 2005 00:34 (UTC)
